Modular Home FAQ'S

1. What is the difference between a modular and a stick built home?    A modular home is designed, engineered and assembled in a controlled indoor enviroment. Modular homes are built in sections indoors, no snow, rain, ice, mud, etc. to slow the process or subject materials to adverse weather conditions. Throughout the entire process, quality control thoroughly examines each section of the home to ensure the home is built to code. The sections are transported to the job site via truck and then set onto the foundation.

2. What is the difference between a modular and manufactured home?    Manufactured homes, sometimes referred to as mobile homes, are constructed to a different building code. This code, the Federal Construction Safety Standards Act (HUD/CODE), unlike conventional building codes, requires manufactured homes to be constructed on a non-removable steel chassis. A modualr home is built the same as a conventional stick built home, if not better quality. Since a modular home is transported sometimes hundreds of miles to a job site via truck, the quality of the home needs to stand up to the movement it will encounter on the road and while being set on the foundation.

3. What does a modular home looke like?    A modular home looks like any other home; the only difference is that a modular home is built in sections inside a factory.

4. Can I customize my home, or do I have to stick with one of your plans?     YES! YES! YES! Most of our homes are custom built, and there is no extra charge for custom plans.

5. What are the advantages of building a modular home? Do you save money?     What you save is time when building a modular home. On average, it takes 6-12 weeks to finish a modular home.
